"Mina", Robin's mother, was taken to Gaston Memorial Hospital on Sunday afternoon where she was diagnosed with pneumonia. As of today (7/27) she is doing much better. Jim Dickson

Jim, Robin's father, has been having some trouble with his legs and therefore balance and standing problems. Yesterday, Friday, he fell twice in the early morning, but no injuries. He is in Gaston Memorial now for test and evaluation to see if they can find what is causing the weakness in his legs. It was discovered last night that he had suffered a very small stroke. Pray that the doctors will find the source of the weakness and be able to prescribe the means for getting him back on his feet. The oldest grandson is getting married next weekend and he will surely want to be there if possible. Pray also for Mina, his wife, as she awaits word on his health, and for Robin and her sister as they have the responsibility of caring for their parents. UPDATE: (6/17) Jim has been in rehab and may be coming home on 6/23. Pray that he will continue to improve.06-17-2010

Haley, Lin and Ben's granddaughter, had surgery today (6/14), at Shriner's Hospital in Greenville. The surgery was to straighten her left leg and take the pressure off her knee. The doctor was pleased with the surgery and is hopeful that knee surgery might not be necessary -- time will tell. She will be in a wheel chair for at least one month. Pray for Haley to have relief from as much pain as possible in the days ahead. Pray also for all her family as they wait. Pray that the healing will go well and that further surgeries may not be necessary. UPDATE: (6/17) If all goes well today, Haley will be able to come home today. Pray for good results.06-17-2010

She has an appointment on Thursday to have it cut on again – and it seems each time her body is cut on it throws her for a loop! He was taken to CMC where the doctors were more concerned to save his life than mend his leg. Pray for successful procedures and surgeries. Amanda, Mark's niece, had a scheduled hysterectomy early last week. Last night she was rushed to the hospital due to severe hemorrhaging. She went into emergency surgery this morning to stop the bleeding. She is now out but is understandably scared. Please pray for her health to return and that this new stress does not have a negative effect on her father, Scott, who is still battling health issues related to the coal mine disaster in West Virginia. UPDATE: (5/26) Amanda was released to go home yesterday, and was rushed back to the hospital once again this morning running a high fever. Please pray that God will lay his healing hands on her and that whatever is going on will cease. UPDATE: (6/3) Her latest trip to the hospital turned out to be an infection that was caught early and has been taken care of. She is home and convalescing. Praise God that she is finally on the mend and hopefully that this surgery will take care of all of the underlying issues.06-03-2010

Helen, Carol's mom, is in a rehab hospital that is part of Mercy in Charlotte. The tracheotomy was reversed on Wednesday and she is breathing fine just using oxygen. Her pain meds don't seem to be very effective, lasting on an hour or less. They want to do a swallow test on her but she is still unable to hold her head up, so that's not an option right now. Pray for Helen and her family as they deal with the ups and downs of rehab.05-07-2010

Sarah, a friend of the family, has been diagnosed with Bulbar Palsey, which doctors believe may be related to ALS. So far it has affected her speech, her ability to swallow and raise her head while lying down. UPDATE: (2/19) Some of the tests that were to be run have been postponed for a couple of weeks after Violet has had time to regain strength. Scott, Mark's brother, was in a mining accident last week. He is a member of the fire brigade at the mine where he works in WV, and it is his duty to deal with fires that occasionally occur. One of the belts caught fire, and he inhaled a large amount of smoke and steam. He already suffers from a severe case of Black Lung, and this has made matters worse. As a side note, he is also studying to become a minister. Pray that he will make a swift recovery from this, and that the Lord would heal his damaged lungs. 11-25-2009

Our friend, Kevin Moore is a Marine stationed in Afghanistan and was injured by a road-side bomb on October 3. Kevin was wearing his protective gear at the time. His truck was completely destroyed and Kevin received a head concussion. His sargeant phoned his parents this morning (10/6) to inform them of Kevin's injury. Please pray for Kevin and his groups safety. This particular group was not supposed to be doing "dangerous" duties....just building a village. They were called out at a moment's notice. Memorial Service for Miss Dot Dagenhart Miss Dorothy Eugene Dagenhart, age 86, of 1371 Midway Rd., Stony Point, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday July 24, 2010 at Maple Leaf Health Care, after an extended illness. She was born March 1, 1924 in Alexander County to the late Marshall Cornelius Dagenhart and Maggie Beard Dagenhart. Miss Dagenhart was a missionary nurse/midwife with World Witness at Christian Hospital, Pakistan for forty-one years, where she delivered around 4000 babies. She was honored for her service by the President of Pakistan, and presented and received an Honorary Doctorate from Erskine College. She loved the Lord Jesus, her many church friends across the area and her home church New Amity ARP Church in Scotts, where she was a member. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman Dagenhart, John Dagenhart and wife Anne; two sisters, Katherine Goble, Ruth Dagenhart Brown and husband Hal. She is survived by her brother in law, Joe Goble of Newton; four nephews and four nieces; and special caregiver, Gayle Hyman. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday July 28, 2010, at New Amity ARP Church. Dr. Earl Linderman and Rev. Chris Parnell will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service at the church.07-27-2010
