| Jane Ruhleman Submitted By: Lin Reavis | Jane, Ben's 1st cousin and more like a sister, 53 years old, had a stroke on 3/7; she can't talk and has paralysis on her right side. On 3/11, Jane had surgery to relieve pressure on her brain. A “window” was removed to be replaced later. All went as expected, but she will probably be in ICU for 4-6 more weeks. UPDATE: (3/14) From Jane's daughter, Savannah: "Just returned from the hospital visiting Momma, she was taken down on the sedatives again and is still following simple commands, squeeze my hand, wiggle your toes, hold up 2 or 1 fingers, she was also waving. She is definitely improving but has a very long road ahead." UPDATE (3/18) Jane had a good day all in all. They cut the ventilator back to a CPAP level, this is the level people use at their home for sleep apnea, for 2 hrs and she did good. Then the machine was turned back up. They will do the same thing tomorrow. Still on go to be moved from the ICU to a long term acute care system within the same hospital. One of the strokes occurred in the speech center of her brain which could impair her ability to speak. This area is also close to the part of the brain that controls swallowing. when she is moved they may need to insert a tracheotomy tube for her breathing and a feeding tube in her stomach so they can remove the feeding tube from her nose. We will know more as the week goes on. They hope to move her the first of the week. Please continue to pray for Jane, she has a very long way to go. | 03-19-2012 |

| Meredith Branagan Submitted By: Karen | Meredith, Peter's wife (Lyle's sister-in-law) has been diagnosed with a slow growing tumor around one of her ribs that is also pushing against her lung. She has seen a thoracic specialist and had x-rays and a cat scan. The specialist, in consultation with his colleagues, does not think it is cancer but will not know until biopsy results following surgery. She is to have surgery to remove the impacted ribs and maybe part of her lung on March 9, at Brighams hospital in Boston. They expect her to stay at the hospital for 3 or 4 days and then a couple of months of convalescence at home, having to learn to breath again. Please keep her in your prayers. UPDATE: (3/8) The biopsy was done before surgery and showed the tumor to be benign, praise God! The surgery to remove the tumor and the recovery period remain on track. | Michael Branagan Submitted By: Karen | Please pray for Michael - The infection in his ear has cleared up but there is definitely a hole in his eardrum. He will go back in a couple weeks to have it checked again. Pray for complete healing of the hole and that it will close on its own. UPDATE: (1/23/12) He went back to the doctor today about his ear - he has another ear inefection. Dr could not see the eardrum - so no news on whether hole is closing or not. He is back on antibiotics. Additional prayer request: Michael will have a summer job in Glendale, CA, May - August. That is a praise. Several prayer requests - he needs to sublet his apartment in Charlottesville, VA, find an apartment in CA , and buy a car to use while there. Please pray for all these details to work out. UPDATE: (2/27) Michael has another ear infection and the doctor believes that his eardrum may be perforated again also. Pray it ain't so and that God would continue to heal him of these recurrent infections. Pray also that the eardrum will heal and his hearing be fully restored! UPDATE: (3/5) Michael saw an ENT this morning and the doc is concerned about his hearing. He has a pinpoint hole in his eardrum. He goes back in a couple of weeks for a hearing test. UPDATE: (from Cam's mom) - "Daddy's ICD (defibrillator/pacemaker) went off this morning. A call for information from his cardiologist and a "read" of the device triggered an ambulance ride to Presbyterian hospital. Fortunately, there was no heart attack...but could have been fatal had he not had the ICD in place. He went into V-tach. The MD reports have been good today...gonna keep him overnight and do further tests in the am. Thanks for your prayers. Please don't stop." UPDATE: (2/16/2012) One of the wires on Peter's ICD has broken and he will have surgery today (Thurs.) around noon to repair/replace it. Her parents were able to keep her fever in check by rotating ibuprofen and acetaminophen. On Monday, the doctor confirmed that she has a severe case of strep. But she also has a severe case of mono. Her lymph nodes are extremely swollen and her spleen is slightly enlarged. She is also anemic.
